Lunar New Year

Our first-grade students at EHB were treated to a special presentation by the Korean Parent Association in celebration of Lunar New Year.

The presentation began with a captivating Tae Kwon Do demonstration, where fellow first grade students showcased their impressive techniques and discipline. The students watched in awe as the performers executed precise kicks and punches, highlighting the athleticism and grace of this traditional Korean martial art.

Following the Tae Kwon Do demonstration, the students were treated to a slide show that explained the significance of Lunar New Year and various traditions surrounding this holiday. As the presentation continued, the students had the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities that brought Korean culture to life. They eagerly lined up to play traditional Korean games such as Jegichagi, a game similar to hacky sack but played with a small weighted object. One of the highlights of the event was when the students had the chance to try on hanboks, traditional Korean attire.

Throughout the presentation, members of the Korean Parent Association shared personal stories and anecdotes about their own Lunar New Year traditions, further enriching the students' understanding of Korean culture and customs.

As the event came to a close, the first-grade students left with a newfound appreciation for Korean culture and a deeper understanding of the significance of Lunar New Year. With heartfelt thanks to the Korean Parent Association for their dedication and commitment to sharing their culture with the students of EHB, the Lunar New Year presentation was truly a memorable and enriching experience for all involve
