Merritt Memorial School recently held its beloved annual tradition: Merritt Goes to the Mountain! Students and staff spent a beautiful day at Bear Mountain, celebrating nature, community, and adventure.

Fifth graders rose to the challenge by hiking all the way to the top of the mountain, enjoying breathtaking views and a well-earned sense of accomplishment. Meanwhile, our curious first and second graders explored the Bear Mountain Zoo, learning about local wildlife and conservation.

Third and fourth graders participated in “Mountain Mindfulness,” a calming session that encouraged students to connect with nature through breathing, reflection, and quiet observation.

No matter the grade level, all students laced up their sneakers and joined in on a scenic hike through the park, surrounded by fresh air, towering trees, and lots of Mustang spirit.

It was a day full of adventure, teamwork, and memories that will last a lifetime!
